Harry, I put up an inverted V antenna and fed it directly with 50 ohm coax. Everything was fine for weeks and then we had high winds and dry weather. The beacon died and wouldn’t come back on. I read some articles on static buildup on antennas. Some antennas will build up high voltages and some will not In dry, high wind environments. If anyone has an antenna that can build up high voltages then there are some easy fixes to keep that from happen. I love my beacons. We need to keep them happy. John Carroll AA6RF

I have been using the desktop beacons from Zacktek for a long time. Has anybody been using attenuators to lowering the power and making the million miles per watt equivalentcy. It’s fun to see when conditions are good and seeing how far you can make contacts with 2 milliwatt. 20 db attenuation equals 2 milliwatts, 30 db attenuation equals 200 micro watts. It’s really mind blowing how far a really weak signal can go. Thanks Harry for building such a neat product. John AA6RF
